Everyone knows the feeling of a really good book. But something has happened to our reading. We read less today. Our lives are fast-paced and time is scarce. At the same time, reading is getting more and more digitalized.
In 2015, Pond was contacted by one of Europe’s leading publishing houses, Bonnier Books, to help them create the reading experience of tomorrow. We conducted a thorough insight and concept development phase to understand consumer motivations, frustrations and needs. We found that there are actually a lot of moments during the day when consumers could read. But most consumers don’t, for one simple reason: they haven’t found the right book. Because when they are absorbed in a good book they find the time to read.
Based on this insight we assisted Bonnier with a brand platform, naming and graphic identity for the new brand BookBeat. We also created the initial concept for a digital audio- and e-book service available on multiple platforms and devices. This included everything from branding to designing the actual applications, always with the aim to help the user find and experience her next favorite book. The first version of the new service is launched and it will continuously evolve with more functions based on new insights from users.
